Dave’s Faves for the Menzies Auctions on 21 & 22 September 2016

Menzies present a bumper issue as the last of the big spring auctions is approaching. On 21 September, the mixed vendor sale offers 129 lots, and the following night is dedicated to the stock-in-trade of Savill Galleries, presenting 160 lots.

As Menzies CEO Justin Turner writes in his introduction to the second night: “Prospective buyers can take some comfort from the fact that this is one auction where they will not be competing against the dynamic Mr Savill in the saleroom!” – which may well translate into some interesting bargains.

If you ever dreamt of Venice, this may be your chance as well. La Serenissima inspired countless artists, and there is a beautiful selection on offer, ranging from an imposing Arthur Streeton with a big price tag to less widely known artists’ gems at modest prices, estimated well under $2,000.

The Sydney preview is held from Thursday, 8 Sept, to Sunday, 11 Sept at 12 Todman Avenue, Kensington.

Melburnians can preview the artworks from Friday, 16 Sept, to Tuesday, 20 Sept at Stonington Mansion, 336 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.

The auctions are held on Wednesday, 21 Sept, and Thursday, 22 Sept, 6.30 pm, at 1 Darling Street, South Yarra.

We would be pleased to assist you with due diligence and pre-purchase reports. Just give us a call on 02 9977 7764 or email info@bhfineart.com to find out how.

We can also represent your interests in the auction room, as we will be attending both nights and bid for you.
