Dave’s Faves for the Deutscher + Hackett auction Dec 2015

Deutscher and Hackett have split their 208 lot strong December auction into 4 sections, to showcase the consignment of some eminent collections: for example, the first 20 lots come from the Ure Smith family; Sydney Ure Smith (1887 – 1949) was one of the most influential Australian art publishers and art patrons of the first half of the 20th century.

Read more on this fascinating chapter in Australian art history in the essay by Nancy Underhill on the Deutscher + Hackett website .

The sections alternate between non-indigenous and indigenous art and promise a large colourful offering.

The Melbourne viewing is on from 19 to 22 November at 105 Commercial Road, South Yarra, while the Sydney preview is held from 26 November to 1 December at 55 Oxford Street, Surry Hills.

The auction takes place on Wednesday, 2 December, 7 pm, at the Cell Block Theatre in the National Art School in Sydney.
