The Menzies Fine Art Auction on 26 September in Sydney promises some very interesting offerings among its 125 lots.
There are a number of works on paper by international greats such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol with a Mick Jagger portrait and Banksy (fear not, it won’t be shredded after the hammer comes down).
Aboriginal art is represented by Australian masters Albert Namatjira, Emily Kngwarreye and Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, as well as a sublime Lin Onus.
For those hankering after a Sidney Nolan Ned Kelly picture, there are two offerings estimated well under $50,000, and Norman Lindsay lovers can choose from a selection of drawings and etchings of his famous nudes.
Among the contemporary Australian artists, you’ll find not one, but two Lucy Cullitons and Jason Benjamins, and Shaun Gladwell, Noel McKenna, Sam Leach and Brook Andrew are represented with very typical works.
The Melbourne viewing is held from 12 to 15 September at 1 Darling Street, South Yarra.
In Sydney, you can view the artworks at 12 Todman Avenue, Kensington, from 19 to 25 September.
The auction takes place on Thursday, 26 September, 6.30 pm, at 12 Todman Avenue Kensington.
