BACKGROUND

We acted for the family of the artist in the sale of this previously unknown portrait of an elegant self-assured woman. 

VALUATION & OUTCOME

The painting carried a pre-sale estimate of $45,000 to $ 65,000. However, this beautiful typical work of the modernist artist sold for more than double the low estimate for $93,000 including buyer’s premium, which was a new auction record for works by Rah Fizelle at the time.

The sale of this painting was a wonderful moment for the lady owner: it allowed her to make the trip to Canada to see her grandchildren.
