Brigitte’s Best from Bonhams

Bonhams’ auction of Important Australian art on Monday, 25 November in Sydney  features both non-aboriginal and aboriginal art and artefacts, providing an offering ranging from the very contemporary to the very traditional, all in just 118 lots.

Lot 9 – Herbert Badham, On the Roof, 1928, est. $100,000-150,000. Women on top of the world

Lot 14 – Albert Namatjira, Indoona, c.1939, est. $25,000-35,000. One of only three profile portraits by the artist, a must-have for the Namatjira collector

Lot 26 – Charles Blackman, The Dancer, c.1965, est. $60,000-90,000. A penny for her thoughts

 

Lot 32 – Luke Cornish, Father Bob Maguire, 2012, est. $20,000-30,000. ‘In Bob we trust’ at the movies now.

Lot 50 – Hossein Valamanesh, Nesting. 2005, est. $4,000-6,000. Upside down down under

Lot 53 – Julie Rrap, Camouflage # 4 (Eiko), 2000, est. $3,500-5,500. Another intriguing, challenging work from the Verghis Collection

Lot 57 – Shaun Gladwell, Self-Portrait Spinning (Invalides) and (Bastille), 2002, est. $2,000-4,000. Spin-off

Lot 79 – Hans Heysen, Still Life, 1930, est. $10,000-15,000. Opulent, magnificent
