In their autumn fine art auction, Deutscher + Hackett present a beautifully curated 91 lots. Included are four works in oil and watercolour by John Olsen, one of our masters of the Australian landscape who sadly passed away just a week ago at the age of 95.
Other masters of the Australian landscapes on offer are by Fred Williams, Brett Whiteley, William Robinson and Arthur Boyd.
Meanwhile in the contemporary realm, Ben Quilty beckons, as does Banksy with his iconic “Girl with Balloon”, the screen print with up up and away estimates of $450,000-$650,000.
Connoisseurs of the Bauhaus should take a very close look at lots 81 to 89: nine prints formerly in the collection of Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack, with rarities in the Australian auction room by Paul Klee, Oskar Schlemmer and Lyonel Feininger.
Did you know that Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack was the only Bauhaus student to end up in Australia? Read more in this blog from 2014.
