March 2009: Ronald Coles Controversy - Authentication of paintings by D'Arcy Doyle
Following the controversy regarding Kenthurst-based art dealer Ronald Coles, many owners of works by D’Arcy Doyle, purchased from Ronald Coles and otherwise, have been thrown into doubt over the authenticity of the paintings in their homes, not knowing whom or what to believe.
Jennefer Doyle, the artist’s widow, has recently authenticated a large number of works from Ronald Coles’ stock room for fine art auction house Bonhams and Goodman.
Now, to address and set right these uncertainties for individual owners, Jennefer Doyle has agreed to authenticate D’Arcy Doyle’s original works for private owners as well. Banziger Hulme Fine Art Consultants are organising the authentication day in their office in Manly on 27th March. We felt it important to assist the many individual owners of his works as well so they can get peace of mind. This is a one-off opportunity for owners of works by D’Arcy Doyle, as Jennefer Doyle will only authenticate works ‘in the flesh’ and not from photographs and will fly specifically to Sydney from Queensland for the day only. What do I need to do to have my painting by D'Arcy Doyle authenticated?
Works will need to be delivered to the premises of Banziger Hulme Fine Art in Manly prior to the authentication day and picked up afterwards. Every authentication will be documented with a certificate of authenticity signed by Jennefer Doyle.
