It’s on and the gloves are off. Just like two prize fighters squaring up, ‘contemporary art’ will take on ‘the auction room’ in a debate between Manly art market specialist David Hulme and Sydney art consultant Kate Smith.
They will be discussing the pros and cons of art purchased at auction and art purchased in commercial galleries.
Some of the questions … include: What are commercial art galleries? What type of art can you buy in an auction? What are the benefit and pitfalls of buying at auction as opposed to in a commercial gallery?
The debate is part of the Manly Arts Festival, on Sudnay, September 30, 2pm, at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
